Position Summary
The Worship Leader is a part-time staff member who provides spiritual, musical, and organizational leadership for the church’s worship ministry. This role exists to help the congregation engage in meaningful, Christ-centered worship that honors the Lord and supports the preaching of the Word.
This position averages 10–15 hours per week, with the majority of responsibilities centered around Sunday morning services, along with preparation, planning, and team development during the week.
Compensation
• Part-time, stipend-based position
• $400–$600 per month, commensurate with experience and availability
Spiritual Expectations
Because worship leadership is both theological and personal, this role requires more than musical ability.
The Worship Leader must:
• Be a committed, Spirit-filled Christian with a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Demonstrate a biblical understanding of worship and a desire to lead others into authentic worship of the Father
• Live a life that reflects Christian character and integrity, both publicly and privately
Primary Responsibilities
Worship Leadership
• Serve as the primary leader for Sunday worship services
• Plan and lead congregational worship that supports the sermon theme and overall service flow
• Collaborate with the pastor to align music selections with the preaching of the Word
• Develop worship sets, transitions, and overall service flow
Team Development & Pastoral Care
• Recruit, train, and develop volunteer worship and tech team members
• Foster a culture of unity, humility, and spiritual growth within the worship team
• Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to team members
• Facilitate discipleship and spiritual formation within the worship ministry
Planning & Administration
• Prepare and distribute weekly worship schedules and service plans
• Coordinate lyrics, slides, and other presentation materials
• Communicate clearly and consistently with volunteers regarding schedules and expectations
• Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings (evenings or online)
Stewardship & Resources
• Steward church-owned instruments, equipment, and technology responsibly
• Coordinate basic maintenance and provide input regarding future equipment needs
Qualifications
• Musical proficiency in leading worship (vocally and/or instrumentally)
• Ability to lead confidently while remaining teachable and team-oriented
• Experience working with volunteers of varying skill levels
• Reliable, organized, and consistent in follow-through
• Prior church worship leadership experience preferred
